Create Your Truest Self

Dreaming A Room of Your Own

I decided to share my dream from last night because prompts flowed from my pen onto the page as I wrote the dream in my journal.

Here’s my dream:

A Room of my Own

I’m in my bedroom in the basement of The Greenville House (also known as the House of Truth in my dreams). I’m my current age. The walls are bare. A suitcase lays open on the bed. On top of the suitcase is a folded shirt with my business’ new logo. I can’t read it but know that it’s not the one I’m currently launching.

I can breathe in this room that isn’t cluttered with stuff: papers, books, clothes, knickknacks. Everything I own is in this room.

I sit on the bed and look out the window. An orange and black tiger floats in the sky like a cloud toward a tree. I grab my phone to videotape this as I feel inspired. It turns from the tree and lowers slowly toward me. It’s round and cartoon-like. I put my phone down as I realize I should be taking in this magical creature instead of recording it.

I love the emptiness of the room because my imagination soars and I can write without the distraction of clutter.

The tiger reminds me to be present.

As I wrote this dream, I realized I didn’t miss the stuff. What I missed was the ability to daydream, be carefree, creative, and open to my imagination.

Then I wondered, what do I really need in my life? My words come from within me. I only had to walk out of that room to be with the people I love and who lift me up.

What was important enough to be in this room with me?

I want to think about this more and maybe I’ll plan a dream reentry with that question in mind. To see what is in that room that’s essential to my higher self, creativity, and who I am.

The dream and the process of writing from these prompts felt powerful and provided much needed clarity.

Perhaps they’ll do the same for you.

If you are so called, take some time and visualize your favorite room; either in waking life or your imagination. Observe the walls, floor, closet, furniture. Knickknacks, photos, books, papers, etc.

  • What do you have in this room that supports the best, most splendid, truest version of you?

  • What would be important enough to have in this room?

    • Why?

  • What does it say about you?

  • Based on what you have chosen to place in this room, what do you believe matters to you right now?

    • What are you caring about/for?

    • Know that this room can shift as your life and values do.

  • How does it feel?

  • How do you feel?

  • How can you bring that Room of your Own energy into your life?

If you want to dream about it, write this intention in your journal and see where your dreams take you.

I’d love to hear about your room!
