You Are The Expert of Your Dreams

Dreams are a personal guidance system. Whether they come from our subconscious, higher self, guides, or imagination, dreams are essential to understanding who we are.

You are the expert of your dreams.

The Lightning Dreamwork Process is a quick and effective way to get clearer on the meaning of your dreams. It brings the magic and messages of those dreams into your waking life. This process is adapted from my training with Robert Moss. www.mossdreams.com

The Lightning Dreamwork Process

Step 1: Share Your Dream

  • Journal or tell your dream including a title. It's like you’re telling someone about a great movie and giving them the details.

  • Journal or speak in present tense.

Step 2: Feelings

  • How do you feel upon waking from the dream?

  • Feelings are the most vital aspect of your dream experience! They are the compass of your dreams. They give you the direction of where to explore, what questions you want to ask, and further action to be taken.

Step 3: Reality Check

  • What do you recognize in your waking life?

  • Could any of this happen now or in the future?

  • Don't discount nightmares of the fantastical! They help us to remember and pay attention.

Step 4: Be Curious

  • What do you desire/need to know about this dream or any part of it?

  • What would help clarify this dream’s message?

Step 5: Receive Support

  • You're the expert of your dreams but someone's experience of your dream retelling can spark meaning or guidance.

Supporter Advice!

  • Be respectful of another's dream.

  • You do not know what this dream means to that person, no matter how close to them you are. The supporter is simply offering their personal experience of having heard this dream.

  • Prelude any offering by saying, “if this were my dream... “

Step 6: Honor Your Dream and Take Action

  • Dreams require action!

  • It doesn't have to be monumental. It could be as simple as wearing orange because that was the color of the flower in your dream and it made you happy.

Further Action Ideas

  • Create from the dream: write a poem or story, draw a picture, paint.

  • Take physical action: wear color from the dream. Talk to the person in waking life that you dreamt of. Go to the place you dreamt about.

  • Use an object as a dream talisman. Could be a stone or crystal that holds the energy of the dream.

  • Use the dream as a travel advisory or reaction to a possible future event. How does it change your action in waking life?

  • Go back into the dream to get more information. (I'll get more into dream reentry in a different article).

Step 5: Bumper Sticker

  • Hold on to the energy of your dream!

  • It could be an affirmation. A positive connection to the dream. A catch phrase there reminds you of what this dream meant.

Dreams require our attention if we wish to continue to receive them.

These steps are a fun and engaging way to share dreams, receive guidance, and acknowledge the wonderful world we traverse when we sleep.

Feel free to share a dream in the comments using this process.
