Day 17: Declutter & Clearify

This closet holds sheets and towels from my bedroom and bath. Another shelf has over the counter medications, first aid, COVID tests, toilet paper—you get the picture.

I went through the medication to check expiration dates. I’m a stickler with this, because the medication may no longer be effective and in some instances can be dangerous. I had some from 2020! I feel like I had just purchased bottles of cold/flu medicines but the pandemic stole a couple years from our memory. What I thought happened last year really occurred over two years ago.

The expired medications will be brought to CVS, because they have a secure disposal bin. This is just as important as recycling to make sure medicine doesn’t get into children’s hands or pollute our waters. Check on your town’s website as well. They may have medication disposal drives.

PSA is done but I hope you take the time to check your medication dates!

I purchased baskets and bins to hold the first aid and meds so everything can be found easily. That’s vital when you have a family with a history of broken bones, cuts, smashed fingers, allergic reactions, etc.

Our family injuries could either be a full-length memoir or an action movie. All I can say is thank goodness we have experienced nurses in our family, although my husband is very cool under pressure! I can write the stories but I prefer someone else to deal with medical care.

Each bin holds:

*band-aids, gauze, tape, scissors

*ace bandages, slings, ready to use ice/heat packs

*cold/pain, allergy meds, thermometer

*manicure/pedicure supplies

*washcloths

*hand/hair towels

Who’s your family cool-headed, go-to person for injuries?
