Dreaming the Fantastical…
Brings Magical Messages.
Hawk soaring through the sky. Photo by author.
I recently vacationed in North Carolina and saw so many hawks. Soaring. Swooping. Sweeping through the sky wide-winged and focused.
Hawks are special to me.
They are my connection to my spirit son, Nick.
He loved hawks so when I see one, I know he’s close by. On my worst days without him, Hawk shows up in unexpected places.
Nick always knows when I need a check-in. Sometimes there would be three or four hawks: Nick, my dad, and father-in-law. Maybe an ancestor popping in. Are the hawks reincarnations of my loved ones? Maybe. Why not?
Magic exists on many levels.
But that’s not the point. It’s the synchronicity–the message that our loved ones send to us.
I have often dreamt of hawks and felt they may be my spirit animal but never really grew that connection.
This mystical dream I’m going to share may have changed that.

Hawk Demands Respect
I dream I’m on a wide road with my brother-in-law and my husband. The air is warm. A huge hawk circles above us calling. So verbal. It circles again and lands on the road. It stares at me. This is no ordinary hawk. It’s huge–almost my height. Light brown front, rich hues of black and brown on its wings. It’s androgynous with huge clear blue eyes. Fantastical comes to mind.
Chirp. Asks for respect. I nod.
That’s not enough. It hops closer, eyes never leaving mine. Sees into my soul.
“Yes,” I say. “I see you. I understand your importance. The role you play in my life.”
My brother-in-law and husband are amazed.
Feeling: Excited, in awe, humbled.
Reality: This is the second dream I have had where a hawk lands in front of me but this one was right in my face. Like, pay attention. I’m not going to repeat myself! I have to be big, magical, fantastical for you to listen. (So maybe I felt a little chastised, as well.) It wasn’t a scary or dire dream. It’s more like an evolution. Ah, know you are ready to see.
My brother-in-law is Nick’s godfather who I don’t dream about a lot. My husband is almost always in my dreams. Both are more skeptical of dreams but respectful. To have them there makes me appreciate the significance and to perhaps speak my truth.
I wonder if Hawk represents Nick but it doesn’t feel like Nick is telling me he’s being ignored. It’s more spiritual, internal.
According to https://www.spiritanimal.info/hawk-spirit-animal/ “The hawk spirit animal or totem has several attributes and meanings:
Hawk is the messenger of the spirit world
Use the power of focus
Take the lead when the time is right
Power to see, clear vision
Strong connection with spirit, increased spiritual awareness”
Curiosity: What does hawk need me to do in waking life to show respect and acknowledge?
Who am I respecting or need to respect more?
Support: If it were your dream, what resonates with you? What would you wish to know more about? What stands out?
Remember: this is about an offering, not telling me what my dreams means–but what it means to you if it were your dream or experience. Feel free to comment.☺️
Action:
I usually type notes on my phone in the middle of the night to remember my dreams. For this dream, I noticed I typed: I saw a lot of hawks in McDonald. I meant to type North Carolina. As I was writing out this dream in my library, I looked up and saw this book on my shelf.
Same last name as I typed on my phone and it’s about hawks. Synchronicity? Absolutely! I haven’t read it yet. One of my action plans is to read this book.
Will learn more about hawks as a spirit animal.
Be open and acknowledge synchronicities and signs in waking life.
Invite Hawk to take me on a flight to shift my perspective.

I had a Reiki session with the fabulous Kelly Ballard and she has a bowl of intentional and spiritual cards you can pull. This is the one I pulled.
The word RESPECT popped out at me. This indicates that Hawk represents me. Respecting and caring for this beautiful vessel that houses my soul is high on my priorities right now.
Hawks are incredible creatures. Seeing one in my dreams would definitely get my attention. But, seeing one in this fantastic and supernatural way made me pay attention and take action.
When you dream the fantastical, out of this world, science fiction or fantasy type dreams, take care to pay attention to the details. There’s an otherworldly message that’s trying to come through.
March into the magic of your dreams!
