Family of Choice

Over the years, we have chosen friends who have become family. Bonds that forever connect us, making celebrations and milestones a part of our lives.

My boys have always called my husband’s best friend of 40 years, Uncle Scott. We consider his son, Alex, to be our nephew. They have always come to family functions, Easter dessert, summer barbecues, birthday parties, and pizza on Halloween, whether in-person or Zoom. It would have been odd if they weren’t invited.

When the boys were little we rode dirt bikes. Now we ride motorcycles together on weekends.

On October 6, 2018, Alex and Kaile were married with their 2-year-old son, Liam, as witness. When their daughter, Lainey, was born, our family grew again.

I celebrate this day because of the fun and laughter experienced at this wedding—especially the night before as Scott’s wife, Laurie, and I learned about the Pterodactyl game! Can’t explain. Just look it up!

Happy 5th Anniversary, Alex & Kaile!
